Are you afraid of Sales?

(Making Fortunes from The Very Thing I Dread Most). “SALES!”

“Everybody and anybody can sell”. I hate that statement especially when one is trying to push me to consider a career in sales. How can you say everyone can sell?

I was hunted with this picture “being a successful young man in my 35’s as a boss in a multinational corporations, or the owner of several companies, occupying this pent-house office or corner office, dressed in a crisp iron white shirt and a well-trimmed French suit, married to one of the most beautiful duchess, never missed his vacation with his family on his own private jet – that was my dream when I was 19th years old.

Throughout my 20’s I attempted several legitimate pursuits to make this dream become a reality in my late 30’s so in my mid 20’s I bought several and read over 50 self-help books, I attempted the signs of auto-suggestions, paste those pictures everywhere make it a screen saver on my mobile devices. Unfortunately, at my 35th birthday I wasn’t close to the picture of my dream, couldn’t successfully build an organization that could afford to sponsor myself on a vacation outside the country, so I embrace the status quo.

Just when I thought I had lost it all, something suddenly happened in 2014, an opportunity to become an executive brand representative in a multi-national company came up, I immediately opposed the idea because it had something to do with executive sales, OH HOW I HATE SALES! Unfortunately, at that period I had serious issues with cashflow which affected the family income. I told my wife NO! I may be having issues with cashflow now, but I don’t want to be part of this, I CAN’T SELL! It’s not just my thing, neither can I stoop too low to recruit anyone to do such.

I hated sales with the whole of my heart. I dreaded it and in fact my heart skipped when it’s mentioned and I carefully avoided scenarios and any discussion that solicit my participation in it.

My duchess had got involved but I wasn’t. Six months later, in attempting to assist a young lady with one of that organization products, and my wife seeing her willingness to join the executive program immediately roped me in

(sign me into the program) and handed her over as a mentee. Now with the responsibility to assist her, groom her and make her fulfill her dreams. That was the beginning of my journey to sales. However, one of my talents is to groom and train people to meet targets and achieve their objectives.  We never know our greatness until we put it to use. Today I have groomed and train 20,000 sales team who are part of this program across USA, UK, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi and Kenya.

Five years later, over 80% of them who are my top sales closers in the program where once timid, sales averse and most of them never attempted to sell anything before in their life.   

That is my story, in 2018 the sales group generated over ($600,000 USD) N261,000,000 for the company and had partners in Nigeria, Cameroun and Kenya. In 2019, it made N540,000,000 ($1.4M USD) with new partners from US and U.K. Today all of them are rich through the executive program, but yesterday they didn’t even want to hear the word SALES.
